A GAMING project which aims to have a positive impact on children’s mental and physical well-being needs volunteers.

The Power of Gaming project hosted by Maldon and District Community Voluntary Service brings people together who have a shared interest in gaming.

The club is held for children aged 11 to 18 to enjoy a range of consoles and games from retro to the latest releases.

For the sessions to continue to run smoothly, they need several volunteers for various roles to support them.

Maldon and Burnham Standard:

The sessions are hosted fortnightly on Fridays from 5pm to 8pm as well as holiday club dates at the Maldon Activity Centre.

The club is looking for a holiday club helper, a gaming guru and kitchen and catering support.

A Power of Gaming project spokesman said: “We believe that gaming has the power to bring people together through a shared interest and to positively impact on participant’s mental and physical wellbeing - all in a safe environment where you can enhance social skills and meet new friends.

“The project runs holiday clubs during school holidays and half terms as part of the Essex ActivAte programme.

“Volunteers are needed to interact with the young people, including helping to set up sessions and making the young people feel welcome.

“If you have a passion for gaming and a knowledge of different consoles and games this is the role for you.

“Volunteers will help to set up sessions and support participants, often young people, to choose games, play together and gain confidence.

“Volunteers are needed to help prepare, serve, and clear away a meal and refreshments at sessions and to interact with young people to ensure they are having fun.
