STAFF at a children's nursery are delighted after it was rated 'outstanding' by watchdogs.
Maldon Court Nursery School was given the top rating by Ofsted in all areas for the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development and leadership and management.
The nursery, in Silver Street, was described as “extremely warm and welcoming”.
There were 23 children on the roll at the nursery during the time of the inspection.
The nursery has five members of childcare staff and caters for children aged from one to two years old.
The report says: “Staff make their time in the nursery fun and nurturing.
“They are consistently kind and loving towards children and ensure that their needs are met. Children are happy and relaxed.
“They form very close bonds with staff and seek them out willingly for cuddles and interactions in activities.”
The inspector found that the pupils were encouraged to “develop a have a go attitude and to develop their problem-solving skills”.
The nursery also introduced some simple sign language to the children to support their communication.
The arrangements for safeguarding were said to be “effective”.
The inspector said: “Staff demonstrate an excellent understanding of their responsibility to protect children in their care and to be alert to concerns about children's welfare.”
Nursery manager Kim Callaghan said: “We are delighted that Ofsted have recognised the hard work and high expectations that lead our nursery to be outstanding.
“Alongside the importance of supporting the children's learning and development, we also pride ourselves on knowing all our children well.
