I totally agree with Simon's assessment of this situation. I was one of the marine mammal medics involved in this operation, we had recieved a number of calls from concerned public about this animal. Seals can live with a burden of parasites, usually lungworm, until the effects become too much for them. The seal at the moment however seems very feisty, which is a good thing. I'd like to thank Essex marine police for their help and assistance, they were great. − Sealherder, Leigh on Sea

As a Southminster resident, I am equally concerned by the councillor's words. No consideration appears to have been given to the number of accidents that have already occurred. The increase to the speed limit can only increase the risks of further accidents, as more drivers realise that they can legally drive at a higher speed. − bayhouse, Southminster
