A radio station which began on Radio Caroline's Ross Revenge ship has rebranded.

Formerly known as Caroline Community Radio, the station now answers to Caroline Coastal FM.

The change came with an added FM frequency, vastly broadening the station's reach.

The music station, serving Maldon, Burnham-on-Crouch, and surrounding areas, was re-introduced during a guest live broadcast from Radio Caroline’s Ross Revenge on the River Blackwater.

Caroline Coastal FM treats listeners to a 24-hour mixture of music and community programmes.

The station relays Radio Caroline programmes overnight from Monday to Saturday and all-day Sunday.

The newly named Caroline Coastal FM airs in the Maldon district and the Essex coast on fresh frequency 104.7 FM.

It also continues to broadcast on 94.7 FM and can be heard throughout the country online at carolinecoastal.co.uk.

Assistant station manager Josh Holmes-Bright said: "We’ve got a new name, some new voices and an additional frequency.

"We are also planning to attend a number of local community events in the summer and we look forward to meeting listeners."

The independent community station, supported by the renowned Radio Caroline, was initially launched in October 2020.

It routinely uses the Ross Revenge for broadcasts, the latest of which welcomed more than 60 visitors from Bradwell Marina.
