THOUSANDS of pounds were raised for charities at a Burnham run.

The Rotary Club of Burnham and Dengie Hundred has raised more than £10,200 for charities after a 10km organised run.

David Wilson Homes, the developers of Corinthian Place in Maldon Road donated £5,000 to the cause.

The proceeds from the run will go to Knightswood Day Care Centre in Southminster, Farleigh Hospice in Chelmsford and a Ukraine appeal charity.

Dennis Bloomfield, a Rotarian of more than 56 years, said: “In 2021 we held the first Burnham-on-Crouch 10k Run since the pandemic, and fundraising proved very difficult.

“Fortunately, one member underwrote the deficit, and we were able to hold the event.

“David Wilson Homes’ sponsorship enabled us to be confident that not only would any costs be covered, but we could improve the event for the runners and supporters.

“Thus, we can support the causes and charities with more funds.

“Our club would like to express our sincere gratitude for the generous donation.”
