A POPULAR junior running group celebrated its birthday with a fancy dress run.
The Maldon Promenade Junior Parkrun has celebrated its seventh birthday with a fancy dress, onesie and pyjamas run.
The 2km race is held every Sunday at 9am with the help of volunteers.
Every week around 65 youngsters of all abilities take part.
Youngsters gathered at the starting line in their fancy dress.
Volunteer coordinator Kate Priest has been directing the race since it started.
She said: “It is organised by a wonderful team of volunteers and is a free, weekly, timed event.
“The course is 2km and juniors aged four to 14 can register to take part, with all abilities welcome.
“I am very proud of the success it has become.
“Over the seven years, there have been 254 events, run by 1,914 different children with an average of 65 runners a week, all made possible by 494 volunteers.
