BOSSES at a major barbeque festival are "delighted" about its return to Maldon.

Tickets are now on sale for the Smoke and Fire Festival which returns to Maldon Promenade Park in the summer.

The festival has been held in Colchester's Castle Park for the last two years and was last held in Maldon in 2019.

It will be in town on the bank holiday weekend from Saturday, August 26, to Monday, August 28, next year.

There will be award-winning street food and live entertainment at the event.

Ashley Peniston-Bird, director of the festival, said: “We are delighted to be bringing the Smoke and Fire Festival back to Maldon for 2023.

“We have the privilege of running our festivals across the UK and Maldon has always been one of our favourite locations due to the support of the local community.

“During our hiatus from Maldon, we hosted the festival in Colchester and hope our new friends there will join us at one of our locations this year.”

A spokesman for Maldon District Council said: “We are pleased to be working with Colchester Events again in 2023 and to welcome back the popular Smoke and Fire Festival to the Promenade Park in August.”
