MALDON and District Cycling Club's Hamish Hore was just edged out of a top-ten finish as the club hosted their open ten time trial and GHS qualifier event on the E21/10 course.

A large number on entrants saw a field of 58 participants hit the tarmac on a fine morning.

Fastest rider in the GHS regional qualifier was Timothy Torrie from DHL In-Gear, who stormed round in a time of 22 minutes ten seconds.

In the Sporting course open event (SPOCO) ten, the fastest rider of the day was Rhys Howells of Richardson’s Trek RT with a blistering time of 20m 48s, with Hore as the fastest Maldon rider with a time of 22m 56s that placed him 11th on the day.

Fellow Maldon rider, James Farren, finished in 23m 35s.

Maldon also hosted consecutive 25 and ten-mile evening time trial events.

On the ten course, the fastest rider of the evening was again junior Harry Woods of Maldon, who got round in 24m 23s, while Hore was the only rider to dip under the hour mark on the 25 course with a time of 59m 29s that saw him finish as the evenings fastest rider.

He was closely followed by Maldon’s Alex Ratter who finished with a time of 1h 3m 40s, while fastest lady was Maldon’s Rebecca Hammond, who finished with a time of 1h 14m 2s.

This week sees Maldon hold their Club Championship time trial, which is being held in memory of time-keeper Pam Harding, who sadly passed away earlier this year.
