BURNHAM Ramblers boss Keith Wilson is continuing to rebuild his side.
The Leslie Field boss is still putting his players through their paces before their first pre-season match next week.
Wilson believes that training is going well but is waiting to see what happens for real out on the pitch.
He said: “The players look good against each other but you won’t really be able to tell until you are in a proper game situation. We had a triallist match against East Thurrock on Tuesday night. They had some players they wanted to look at and so did we.
“I know them quite well so it was a good match up.”
Wilson is gearing up for his side’s first pre-season run out against Tilbury next Tuesday but has had hopes of a couple of new faces to bolster his attack dashed.
He said: “We have Tilbury at home next Tuesday then we face East Thurrock on the Saturday.
“Training has gone well but unfortunately the two strikers that I had hoped to bring to the club, the deals have fallen through.
“It’s going to be tough this season.
“It is a complete rebuilding exercise and I was probably kidding myself when I came back that it wouldn’t be like that.
“It will be like going back to when I was first here and building a side.
“We don’t have strikers, like Billy Hunt and Brad Hunter, at the moment with 20 goals a season in them.
“But you never know, I might have that among the young players.
“They are hungry and want to do well and it bodes well for the future.
“We are not a million miles away.
“We have a lot of people who don’t know each other and we will have to mould a team together.
“We will be coming up against teams that have been together for a while.
“But we will gel together.
“It would be boring if it was easy and you just came in every week and it was all fine.
“I have built a side before but how soon that happens now is another matter.
“I have half a side that knows each other and the other half that doesn’t.
“They are a good bunch of lads and I know that by August 8 we will be there or there abouts.”
