ALFIE Burton held his Tillingham Bowls Club President’s Day.
Burton gathered together a team of players from Boreham, Burnham, Great Baddow, Maldon, RHP and Southminster Bowls Clubs to play against a Tillingham team.
A Spider was played before the start of the game and was won by Bill Wright of Southminster.
The £50 raised will be sent to the Breast Cancer Charity.
Burton’s team won on five of the six rinks played and ran out winners by 141 shots to 84.
Everyone agreed that they had enjoyed an excellent afternoon’s bowling and they then sat down to four course meal prepared by Burton’s wife Pam and her hard-working team of helpers.
Both captains thanked everyone who had worked hard to the make the day an enjoyable one for Burton and all of the players.
Two games in division one of the Chelmsford and District League saw Tillingham suffer two defeats.
Firstly Writtle A were the visitors to Tillingham and they took all of the points, winning on all three rinks with a 10-0 scoreline.
The following evening Chelmsford A travelled to Tillingham and went away with an 8-2 victory.
