DANNY Buchan has clinched the 2014 Pirelli National Superstock 1000cc title.

Tsingtao Kawasaki’s Buchan sealed the championship with a three seconds victory over Jason O’Halloran at Silverstone.

Buchan, from Burnham on Crouch, now has an unassailable 33-point advantage going to Brands Hatch for the final round in a fortnight’s time.

He sealed his eighth win of the year, by once again breaking clear from pole position and setting a pace too hot for anyone else to contend with.

Buchan started the weekend in his usual dominant form setting the fastest times in free practice, qualifying and pre-race warm-up which placed him on pole position for the race.

As the lights went out, he took an immediate lead from Josh Elliot and O’Halloran and by lap three had opened up a three second gap.

O’Halloran responded by taking second place in an effort to keep pace with the leader but could not close the gap sufficiently to make a move on the consistent times set by Buchan.

The leaders circulated in formation with Elliot and Kennaugh in tow until on the last lap Kennaugh made his move and passed Elliot into third place taking the final podium position.

Buchan crossed the line 3.003sec ahead of O’Halloran in second, with Kennaugh third some 7.225s adrift.

Buchan said: “I am really happy with the weekend.

“To get The Championship won here at Silverstone with a race win proves all the early nights and hard work has paid off.

“The Tsingtao Kawasaki Team and myself did a lot of testing in the off season and the bike was great all year, that really helped.

“I had eight wins, only one DNF and a second place so I couldn’t have wished for a better year.

“Now I want to be riding a Superbike next season with a team who are ambitious.

“I want to ride for the best team possible.

“The hard work won’t stop yet and I am now preparing for the final round aiming to end the season as a Champion should with a win at Brands Hatch.

“It’s been an awesome year for the Tsingtao Kawasaki team, and myself and to come away with a strong win feels great.

“Massive thanks to my team, my family, my fans and everyone for believing in me – especially my personal sponsors.

“It’s an amazing feeling and time to enjoy it.”
