MALDON and Tiptree boss Terry Spillane has put a positive spin on the enforced winter break.

Recent snowfall led to the postponement of Saturday’s Ryman One North match at Ware and also last night’s trip to Soham Town Rangers.

There are already doubts about next weekend’s home contest with Redbridge.

However, while frustrated by the lack of match action and also problems finding indoor training facilities, Spillane has highlighted one advantage – the extra time for players to recover from injury.

“It’s given one or two of the boys more days to recover,” said the Park Drive boss, whose side have another home game scheduled for next Tuesday, against Brentwood.

“If it’s on, I’m 99 per cent certain Billy Sendall will be fit to play on Saturday.

“He’s been out with a groin injury and needed two or three weeks to get over it.

“He wouldn’t have played last weekend and he’d have been very doubtful last night, so at least now he’s back in the frame without missing lots of games.

“The same goes for Chris Bryan.

“He suffered a knock in our match against Waltham Abbey and wouldn’t have played last Saturday.

“But he should be fine for the weekend, too.”

Maldon and Tiptree are due to entertain Redbridge tomorrow.
