Heybridge Swifts moved into second spot in Ryman League division one north with a 2-1 win at Aveley.
The home side were put on the back foot after ten minutes when Luke Wilson received a straight red card.
But it was ten-man Aveley that took the lead when Jordan Cox scored on 31 minutes.
Heybridge equalised after the break when Luke Callander fired home a 25-yard strike.
Aveley went close to going in front but had their goal disallowed for offside.
Heybridge went straight on the attack and earned a penalty when Callander was brought down in the box by keeper Ronnie Worster.
Michael Cheek then made no mistake from the spot to earn the win for the visitors.
