ZOE Newson claimed a bronze medal for Great Britain following a superb performance at the Para Powerlifting World Championship.
Newson, a member of Colchester-based Suffolk Spartans, secured a lift of 97 kilogrammes in Mexico.
She lifted the weight at her second attempt to finish behind winner, China's Lingling Guo and Nazmiye Muratli of Turkey.
Newson tweeted: 'Came 3rd with a lift of 97kgs at the world championship wasn’t my best performance today but happy to come away with a medal. Thank you everyone for your support.'
Guo set a new world record of 110 kilogrammes in winning gold, while Muratli lifted 107 kg.
Newson's bronze is the latest achievement in her collection.
The former East Bergholt High School pupil also won bronze at last year's Paralympic Games, in Rio after lifting a personal best of 102kgs.
