MALDON Golf Club was literally full of the Christmas spirit over the weekend as the annual Whisky Trot competitions took place.

There were separate stableford competitions on each day and these attracted 57 entrants, who enjoyed the unseasonably mild and dry weather.

Numerous alcoholic beverages were up for grabs for the lucky winners.

The main competition on Sunday saw a field of 42 entrants compete for an array of prizes, not only for the top nine individual places but also two nearest-the-pins, two longest drives, a halfway-house and ‘best dressed golfer’ awards.

Peter Scanes took fourth place with 34 on countback from Tony Davis. Matt Pepper was sixth with 34 and Jim Scott was seventh with 33, on countback from Dan Gardner.

Peter Harper scored 33.

The Sunday prizes for nearest-the-pin went to Paul Shires on the par three fifth/14th hole and to Tony Davis for the closest second shot to the sixth/15th.

The Longest Drive competition was on the dog-leg 13th hole and this was won by Pete Hawkins, while Paul Jackson was victorious in the contest for the tee-shot closest to the ditch on the seventh/16th hole.
