ANDREW Sesay scored in injury time-to cap off a remarkable comeback for Witham Town against Maldon and Tiptree, writes LEE WITNEY.

George Smith gave Maldon the lead after 14 minutes after he latched onto Louis Britton’s through ball.

The hosts doubled their lead on the half hour mark thanks to a lovely finish from Matt Yates lifting the ball over Harry Fairs.

Britton added a 3rd with 35 mins on the clock, rounding Fairs to slide home.

Witham got a foothold back in the game deep into first-half stoppage time thanks to a wicked deflection off of Jayden Randell to deceive Luca Collins.

Town thought they’d bagged a second before the break, but the goal was ruled out by the referee who’d already blown for a Witham free-kick.

Witham stepped up the pressure in the second half and in truth, were the only side who looked likely to win.

A 30-yard thunderbolt from Josh Osude brought Witham to within a goal with 30 minutes left and then completed the comeback as he slid home the rebound after Collins had made a fine save after 71 minutes.

Sesay’s goal in the 94th minute sparked wild celebrations for the Witham faithful as another inconsistent season for the Jammers came to a disappointing end.
