MALDON and District Cycling Club members battled it out in the final round of the Cyclo Cross series at the Battlesbridge course.

Another good turnout of riders were in action, on another cold and crisp morning.

In the under-12s race, Colchester Rovers fared well with Milo Thomas victorious and team-mate Esme Thomas finishing second.

Third place was taken by Braintree BMX's Heath Thomas while the highest-placed Maldon rider was Caitlin Griffiths, who finished in fourth place.

In the under-14/Youths race, Joe Champness of Hadleigh Mountain Bike Club came storming through to win ahead of Maldon's Harry Wood.

Third spot was taken by Thomas Knowler of Team Darenth.

The third and final race was the Junior/Senior/Vets race, with a total of 42 riders in the start line.

Junior Jake Darragh of Hadleigh Mountain Bike Club did well to win with private entry Steve Coulsen finishing second overall and first Vet 40+ home. Maldon's James Farren was third overall and rode well to also finish second in the Vets 40+ category.

Robert Pisolkar of Finsbury Park CC came sixth overall and finished as the first Vet 50+ over the line.

Maldon and District CC have thanked the Smith family for organising and running the Cyclo Cross series again.
