MALDON'S first team were due to play Stanford-le-Hope in a cup fixture on Saturday.
However, due to injuries, Stanford could not field a competitive side to send to Drapers Farm.
Maldon were therefore granted a bye to the next round.
Both the club's second and third teams were in action, though.
The second team, the Vikings, travelled to Brentwood in a Merit Table fixture against Mavericks.
They continued their impressive start to the season with another convincing victory, running out 62-12 victors.
The third team, the Abbotts, also travelled away for an Eastern Counties Merit Table fixture at Hadleigh and battled out a 22-22 draw.
Next weekend is Maldon’s annual family fun day, with free admission for all.
There will be bouncy castles and games for children, a hog roast, a BBQ and bar and also two home fixtures as the first team kick-off at 2pm against Clacton and the second XV at 3pm against Chelmsford thirds.
