BURNHAM Ramblers boss Keith Wilson is looking forward to drawing a line under this season.

The Leslie Field side bring the curtain down on their time in Ryman League division one north with a home match against Wroxham on Saturday.

After two seasons in the Ryman League the Ramblers have been relegated in what has been a turbulent season for them.

Wilson, after leaving the Ramblers to take over at Heybridge Swifts just before the start of this season and subsequently parting company with the Scraley Road club in December after a run of defeats, returned to Burnham following the resignation of manager Bertie Brayley last month.

The season saw a lot of player movement at the club and will also see chairman Billy Hannan and secretary Shaun Pugh step down in May.

Wilson said: “I think that everyone at the club, come 5.15pm on Saturday, is looking forward to drawing a line under this season and moving on. We can then look ahead to next season and getting back up and forget about this one as quickly as possible.”

Burnham fell to a 2-0 defeat at a Barkingside team who are making a last-ditch attempt to avoid relegation last weekend.

This weekend, Wilson is preparing for the visit of Wroxham and is hoping to put on a show for the home fans and finish the season on a high.

He said: “We have one more game to get through and it would be nice if we could finish with a win in front of the home fans.

“They have suffered this season.

“As have the players, about 75 per cent who have been here all season.

“It would be nice for them to win.

“Wroxham can’t make the play-offs so it will be two teams with nothing to play for and with no pressure on them.

“If we put on a good performance then there is no reason why we can’t win.”

Wilson has already started to plan for next season and is beginning to get a grip on the shape of the team he wants to put out.

He added: “I am learning all the time about the players here.

“And I am starting to get a solid idea of who I want to keep for next season and who I will say thanks for all the effort and goodbye.”
