SO Southend Council has £49million in the coffers to spend on building a museum to house the Saxon King, including over £1million for an architect?
Is it really necessary to spend that much on something that a lot of people will never visit?
The King has a roof over his head, while there are so many people without a place to sleep. And many people in the borough living in sub-standard properties.
There must be many places that are standing empty that could be used as a museum.
The councillors were elected by the people but don't listen to their problems.
There are so many things this money could be usefully used for.
The mental health issues in this area for children are a disgrace and could be helped with some of this money. Elderly care has been cut drastically and many are not being cared for as they should. Our hospital is struggling.
Before spending this obsene amount of money on a museum they should ask the people of the borough what they want the money, that is raised from them, spent on.
