A PUB in Aveley will be given a grand reopening after being taken over by a local businessman.
Former entertainment manager Kevin Field, 54, has acquired the Old Ship Inn, in High Street, and is planning to give the premises a new lease of life.
Mr Field is set to refurbish the pub and intends to introduce a new restaurant, a games room and beer garden extension He said: “I’d been looking to take on a pub for the past 18 months and when I saw the Old Ship Inn, I just fell in love with it.
“Its traditional style, stainedglass windows and open fires make it a really special place and one I’m now proud to call home.
“Once the refurbishment is complete, I plan on increasing what we can offer the local community, including home-cooked meals and live music nights.
“Most importantly, it’s my priority to provide the people of Aveley with a quality pub they love visiting.”
