An Estates Officer has been appointed to manage the new community at Beaulieu in Chelmsford.

Lauren Hull will be responsible for the development’s 176 acres of parks and open spaces.

She will organise and run a programme of events throughout the year to engage the local community as well as drawing people in from a wider area.

She will also host resident meetings where they can share their thoughts on the estate and things they would like to see happen.

Lauren moved to the area to study for a degree in Landscape and Garden Design at Writtle College, nine years ago.

She said: “I am excited about the possibilities for Beaulieu and look forward to meeting the residents and working with them to make sure the environment they live in is well cared for.

“We want the green spaces to be well used and something that the community here gets a real benefit from, now and in generations to come.

“We also want local people to be closely involved in deciding what community events we run so that these genuinely add to their sense of belonging and pride in living at Beaulieu.”

Lauren has previous experience as Parks Manager with Essex County Council, responsible for two Country Parks: Weald in Brentwood and Belhus Woods in Upminster.

Prior to that she worked for a charity delivering education resources and events at a nature reserve owned by Harlow Council.

Lauren has taken up her post working for Beaulieu Estate Management Ltd, with the aim of ensuring that new residents and the wider community get as much as possible from the extensive green open spaces that have been created as part of this exciting new neighbourhood.

The variety of open spaces range from formal parks, village greens, play areas, allotments and community gardens to natural meadows.

The delivery of sustainable and generous public outdoor space is central to the design of the scheme.

The Land Trust, of which Beaulieu Estate Management Ltd is a subsidiary, was appointed to take care of the ongoing management of the parks and open spaces, in partnership with the Beaulieu residents and wider local community.

The vision for Beaulieu is to create a sustainable new district of Chelmsford with over 3,600 new homes over the next 20 years.

Developer Countryside Zest, a joint venture between Countryside and L&Q, appointed The Land Trust earlier this year to manage Beaulieu’s landscape.

The Land Trust is an independent, national charity that owns and manages green public open spaces on behalf of, and in partnership with, local communities.

Andrew Carrington, Managing Director, Strategic Land at Countryside said: “The environment and the green spaces are such an important part of Beaulieu and residents’ experience of living here.

“With Lauren coming on board, there will be a central point of contact for the residents and community on matters relating to the estate, which will make it easier for people to have their say.

“We are hopeful that residents will be as passionate as we are about Beaulieu as a sustainable and attractive place to live.”
