HISTORIC vehicles will be on display to mark the 70th anniversary of VE Day in Harwich.
A group of Second World War vehicle owners have collaborated with the Harwich Society to host the event on Monday from 11am.
May 8 will mark 70 years to the day when Prime Minister Winston Churchill announced to the British people that Nazi Germany had surrendered after six years of war.
The vehicles will be displayed at the Redoubt Fort and a convoy will parade from Wix to Harwich, via Low Road in Dovercourt, before parking up close to the fort or at the Radar Tower, in Harbour Crescent.
The Royal British Legion Band will be playing at the Napoleonic fort and there will be an opportunity for war veterans to meet up and share stories.
Organisers are hoping they will secure funding and permission for a Norfolk-based Second World War P51 Mustang fighter plane to fly over Harwich Harbour at 2.15pm.
