A GOLFER had to be taken to hospital with head injuries after an unfortunate incident on a golf course.
The 62-year-old was playing a round of golf at Three Rivers Golf and Country Club in Stow Road, Purleigh, when he struck a ball which rebounded back off a tree and came back to hit him in the face.
Emergency services were called, and a first responder from South Woodham Ferrers was on the scene in ten minutes before paramedics arrived.
Paramedic Nicola Draper said: “The patient had struck the ball, but it rebounded off a nearby tree and hit him in the left eye.
"We suspected internal head injuries and he was taken on blue lights straight to Queens Hospital, Romford, which specialises in head injuries."
The incident happened at about 2pm on Saturday.
