AROUND 200 extra workers are to be employed at Bradwell power station as part of the continuing decommissioning process.

Plans have been submitted to Maldon District Council by Magnox South for 44 temporary buildings and an overflow car park with a capacity of 152 vehicles.

The facilities, including office buildings, meeting rooms and shower facilities, will accommodate workers who will be working on the site for around five to seven years.

A planning statement submitted to the council said: “The proposal is to relocate existing site staff to these new premises as well as accommodating future workers during the anticipated accelerated decommissioning and building removal work.

“The scheme is to provide accommodation for around 200 additional staff and 100 existing staff, as well as 152 additional car parking spaces.”
