A MAJOR retailer is to “re-brand” a village pharmacy.

Boots plans to move into the existing Moss Pharmacy in Church Road, Tiptree, by the end of this year.

It had been rumoured the retail giant was to buy out the parade of premises in the centre of the village, which also includes Mo’s Cafe and the former Co-Op store.

But a Boots UK spokeswoman would not confirm this.

She said: “Following the merger between Alliance UniChem and Boots Group in 2006, we are planning to re-brand our existing pharmacy on Church Road in Tiptree as a ‘your local Boots pharmacy’ store within the next six months, in line with the re-branding of the Alliance Pharmacy network.

“There are currently no further plans.”

The Standard also approached Boots about employment opportunities which the store could potentially create, but the spokeswoman also declined to comment on this matter.
