AN ORCHESTRA raised £1,300 for a hospital in one night.
Maldon Orchestra performed their second charity concert on behalf of the Colchester Hospital Charity (CoHoC) who are raising funds for the Cancer Treatment Centre.
The concert took place on Friday September 15 at St Luke’s Church in Tiptree to a near-full capacity audience, featuring guest singer Colin Bellett and guest conductor Thomas Duchan.
The programme was a mixture of short, classical, pop and film music.
From the night’s donations £1,300 was raised for the charity, bringing their total from the two concerts, the previous being held in Braintree, to £1,500.
Belinda Allen of the orchestra said: “The orchestra are grateful for the amazing welcome and support that they received from a very appreciative audience.
“We are an amateur orchestra based in Maldon which allows musicians of any ability to come together and play music. We always welcome new players without any auditions.”
