A GIANT tea party at Burnham’s Station House will be a “wonderful” opportunity to mark the Queen’s 90th birthday.
As part of a nationwide ‘Station to Station Queen’s Celebration’ more than 90 stations across the UK will host festivities to mark Her Majesty’s birthday.
The Burnham event, in the recently refurbished station house, is being organised by the Essex and South Suffolk Community Rail Partnership.
The free event, open to members of the public, takes place from 2pm to 5pm on Sunday 12 June and features free tea and cakes.
Family activities taking part throughout the day include games, live music, best dressed prince and princess competition, a raffle and a barbeque.
Paul Oxley, Stakeholder Manager at Abellio Greater Anglia, said: "We are delighted to help host the Burnham station tea party as part of the national Station to Station Queen's Celebration campaign.
“We hope rail users on the Southminster branch and the wider Burnham community enjoy the event and join us in marking Her Majesty's 90th Birthday."
Peter Elliott, Chairman of Maldon District Council, added: “What a wonderful opportunity to celebrate both Her Majesty’s official birthday and the refurbished Burnham Station House. The Crouch Valley is not only an important commuter route, but it also brings many visitors to the area. I hope that this special ‘Station to Station Queen’s Celebration’ event will be a great success.”
