AN event will take place detailing how superfast broadband is set to help homes and businesses around Tollesbury.

The Superfast Essex programme, which aims to bring fibre broadband to the whole of Essex, has seen parts of the local network upgraded.

Residents will be able to find out more at at Tollesbury Community Centre, on Tuesday October 20 from 7pm to 9pm.

The event is aimed at communities connected to the cabinets which have been upgraded and are served by the Tollesbury exchange in the Tollesbury and Tolleshunt D’Arcy Wards.

The upgraded cabinets are spread across Tollesbury, Tolleshunt D’Arcy, Tolleshunt Knights and Tolleshunt Major.

Kevin Bentley, Essex County Council deputy leader and cabinet member for economic growth and infrastructure, said: “The Superfast Essex programme is doing an important job in making better internet connectivity available across the county for business growth and improved quality of life, but nobody is automatically connected and we want to make sure everyone makes the most of it when it arrives.

“These events will help to inform residents and businesses about the benefits and what they need to do to get a fibre broadband service once fibre arrives.”

Those wanting to attend the event should register for free at http://superfastessex-in-tollesbury.eventbrite.com.
