Burnham Museum is raising money to repair flood damage caused 61 years ago.
The building in Coronation Road was damaged in 1953 and the trustees need to raise about £5,000.
Donald Neale, one of the trustees, said: “Some internal walls have suffered brick degradation and now is the time to undertake repairs to ensure the continued use of the building.
“The museum is a charity which receives no support from councils and funds itself by its activities and donation from local people and businesses.”
A charity auction will be held at Ormiston Rivers Academy in Southminster Road on August 17 to help raise some of the cash.
On auction day, items will be on view from 9.30am and the bidding starts at 12.30pm.
