Burnham is to have its first town centre market in about 16 years.
Joe Villar, who runs the Promenade Park bank holiday market in Maldon, has signed up about 25 traders to visit Burnham High Street on Tuesdays from July 1.
Stalls selling fruit, vegetables, fish, meat, clothes for women, men and children and hardware will open from 8am to 2.30pm for an initial three month trial period.
The High Street will be closed from the Chapel Road to Ship Road junctions between 7am on 4pm on market days.
Burnham currently has a regular farmer’s market in Carnival Hall.
