An award-winning author has finished a novel started by another famous writer’s husband, who died before he could complete it.
Margery Allingham, who lived in Tolleshunt D'Arcy, was a prolific writer with more than 30 published novels.
She is best known for her famous detective hero Albert Campion.
When she died in 1966, her husband Pip Youngman Carter completed two Campion novels but died before the third was finished.
Now Mike Ripley, from Fordham, has completed the book, called Mr Campion’s Farewell.
It is due to be published on March 27.
Mr Ripley will talk about the work at the Essex Book Festival at Great Baddow Library on March 10 from 7.30pm - 9.30pm.
