Maldon: Pensioners hold crisis talks over home closure
5:00pm Saturday 16th February 2013 in Local News
Care home residents were told of the closure earlier this month.
Anxious pensioners are battling to extend a two-month timescale they have been given to vacate a care home.
On Monday evening, residents of Middleton Manor care home in Wantz Road, Maldon, held a meeting at the Ship and Anchor pub to discuss how the could negotiate a longer timescale.
The discussion follows recent news that the home is to close after having been deemed no longer commercially viable by Larchwood Care.
Michael McArdell, 83, who has lived in the home for six months, said: “If we set up a public enquiry, that could drag on and on.”
