The man who fought against Simon Cowell and propelled Rage Against the Machine to Christmas number one has once again proved he is top of the pops.

Jon Morter, 38, of South Woodham Ferrers, used his social media skills to place the Justice Collective’s Hillsborough charity single at the festive top spot, beating X Factor winner James Arthur.

The star-studded cover of He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother, which features Paul McCartney, Mel C and Robbie Williams, sold over 269,000 copies to top the UK singles chart.

So far the single has raised approximately £130,000 towards the legal fees of the families of the 96 Liverpool fans who died in the Hillsborough disaster in 1989.
