LABOUR councillor Julie Young launched her campaign to be re-elected to Essex County Council.
Mrs Young holds a seat in the Wivenhoe St Andrew ward, and held the event at the Wivenhoe Congregational Church which was supported by the shadow attorney general Baroness Shami Chakrabarti.
The election will be held on May 4.
Mrs Young said: "Under a Labour administration we would value and invest in good public services because when you need help they should be there.
"All we have seen is service by service be eroded or completely vanish such as the careers service, Connexions."
A full list of candidates will be released on Wednesday, April 5.
