POLICE are treating the death of an elderly woman discovered outside her home as unexplained.
Officers attended an address in Cock Street, Leavenheath, around 10.50am on Wednesday, following reports that a body of woman had been found.
A Suffolk Police spokesman said: “Enquiries into the death of the woman, who is believed to be in her 90s, have been on-going and police are now treating the death as unexplained.
“Next of kin have now been informed and a post-mortem is due to take place in due course.
“A police cordon remains in place at the address while officers continue their investigation.“ The post-mortem results are likely to be given on Friday and the woman is likely to be named.
It is likely the post-mortem results will determine whether the death will be treated as suspicious.
The spokesman would not confirm whether the woman’s body was found with any injuries or if she lived in her own.
