Thrillseekers will be abseiling down a Burnham church tower to raise money to combat poverty - including Standard reporter Emma Robinson.
More than 30 fundraisers from the district have signed up to go “over the top” of St Mary’s Church tower, estimated to be 200ft high.
The event, which will raise money for Christian Aid, will take place on October 13.
The charity provides practical help to countries and communities struggling with poverty.
Christian Aid co-ordinator for the district, Bob Melton, is now encouraging as many people as possible to take part.
He said: “You don’t get much abseiling in Essex and I have never heard of one happening in Burnham.
“It will be a fresh and exciting event.”
