Hundreds of people gathered at Heybridge Basin last weekend to enjoy an age-old boating spectacle.
The Heybridge Basin Regatta, which has been running on and off since 1859, started last Friday night when more than 20 youngsters took part in a treasure hunt and general knowledge buffs put their skills to the test in a quiz.
On Saturday, about 40 dinghies, smacks and other vessels took part in the five and a half mile races, while 400 spectators enjoyed the event from the Basin lock.
