BOSSES at a new school set to open in Maldon later this year have announced they will be holding a public consultation.

Limebrook Primary School and Nursery, sponsored by the Lion Academy Trust, is expected to open its doors in September.

The trust is required to hold a public consultation and report on the outcomes to the Department for Education.

People can submit their views on an online form or by writing to the trust at info@lionacademytrust.net.

Once opened, the school is expected to take 30 pupils into reception and up to 56 children aged four and under into the nursery.

From there, it is hoped the school will grow each year until 2027, when a new reception class will be added to expand the annual intake to 60 reception age pupils.

Once full, the school plans to offer 420 places for primary pupils.

The school is in the process of being built, and the consultation will be held entirely online.

Limebrook is the newest member of Lion Academy Trust, which has ten academies across Essex, London and Wellingborough.

A trust spokesman said: "We are required to run public consultations to seek views on whether the Secretary of State for Education should enter a funding agreement with the Lion Academy Trust to fund and run the new school.

"As the new school is being built - and excellent progress is being made on the construction programme - we are running this entirely online and welcome views from the wider community about the new school, the offer the Lion Academy Trust is making in terms of both the nursery and the primary school.

"Our track record on running successful primary-phase settings is well documented.

"All of our existing schools have been inspected by Ofsted in the past 18 months with three being judged ‘outstanding’ and the remaining seven being judged as ‘good’."
