THE former post office on Maldon High Street has been transformed into the latest Loungers location.

Loungers, the West Country-based café and bar group, opened Salero Lounge in Maldon on Saturday, November 25.

The former post office now has heavily patterned wallpapers, tiling and stripped wooden floors.

Oversized vintage sofas, upholstered lounge chairs, eclectic artwork and statement wall and pendant lighting now also feature.

Salero Lounge also intends to cater for all tastes throughout the day with a varied all-day menu.

The all-day menu will feature everything from tapas and salads to burgers and buttermilk fried chicken, with vegans and those favouring a gluten-free diet catered for with their very own menus.

Families have also been kept in mind, with a selection of games, books, colouring pencils and a craft table available to keep them amused.

A full menu, high chairs and baby-changing facilities are also available for Little Loungers.

Gemma Irwin, community manager at Loungers, said: “We are delighted to finally be opening Salero Lounge in Maldon and hope our family friendly environment and top-notch food and drink offering will prove popular with local residents.

“We’re passionate about integrating genuinely into the local community so we’re looking forward to meeting everyone and to playing our part.

“Our teams always go the extra mile to make a difference and they are actively encouraged to connect with their communities by working with local groups, charities, organisations and businesses that are at the heart of the fabric of local life.

“Anyone looking for a space to host events or community groups should pop in.  We’d love to hear from them and see what we can do to help.”

The team at Salero Lounge will donate 50p from every burger and 20p from each coffee sold in the first month of trading to charity, as part of its ongoing commitment to supporting the local community.

30 jobs for local people have been created as a result of the opening.
