AN impressive annual car event has been hailed a success after fans gathered to see a huge range of American vehicles.
The Museum of Power hosted its annual American Car Show event at the site in Langford.
The day before the event, about 20 of the vehicles gathered in Maldon before parading through the centre of the town.
Members of the public stood and waved at the drivers in the High Street as they watched the vehicles pass through.
The owners of the cars revved their engines and hooted their horns as they were cheered on.
This year more than £500 was raised for the Veterans Foundation charity.
Events manager Lyz Le Fay said: “The exhibitors certainly didn’t disappoint, as they came in droves from across the country to show off the finest in American workmanship.
“On the day, we had lots to offer the public as they entered the field. Not only were there hot rods, Chevrolets amd Mustangs, but also American police cars, an American army re-enactment group with their lorry, jeep and replica guns galore, and, although not American, Uncle Albert arrived in his three wheeler to brighten the already sunny day.
“Entertainment was provided by Mark Vincent from LJ’s Jive School as DJ for the day and the amazing rock and roll band The Blazin’ Aces.
“Co-founder of the American Car Show at the Museum, Gary Swainston, worked tirelessly throughout the weekend to make sure that the drive-through on Saturday went smoothly and the exhibitors were in their best positions on Sunday.
“There were six categories chosen this year for judging, where the winner goes home with a certificate and trophy.
“Categories were Best Custom, Best American, Best In Show, Best Muscle Car, Best Classic and Public Choice Award.
“The museum would like to thank all the people who came along and supported this day, whether a spectator, exhibitor, vendor, trader, volunteer and, of course, Gary Swainston, for without him there would be no American Car Show."
The museum's Steampunk Essextraordinaire is on Sunday, September 24, from 10am to 4pm.
