SMILES and hugs were aplenty as year 11 students opened their results envelopes this morning.

Many happy faces of students and parents made for a wonderful morning of celebration as students, parents and staff at William de Ferrers School have enjoyed a second week of celebrating examination success as students collected their GCSE and vocational examination results today.

The best-performing subjects were: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Art, Drama and many vocational qualifications including: Graphic Design, BTEC Sport and BTEC Business and Enterprise have achieved excellent results.

Some notable performers included: Nathan Davies, Frank Nichol, Megan Harmond, Jessica Stanbridge, Purdey Roberts-Morgan, Lilly Hutson, James Bevan, Jack Hughes, Godbless Acheampong, Joseph Anstead, Thomas Hanlon and Richard Otter.

Mike Applewhite, headteacher said: “We are extremely proud of the many superb performances from our students this year.

“Nationally, this years’ results are expected to be similar to 2019 as the government and Ofqual have changed the boundaries following the centre-assessed grades (CAGs) and teacher-assessed grades (TAGs) awarded in 2022 and 2021.”

We are all really excited about beginning the new academic year where we can ignite aspirations within our students, teach them the value of perseverance so that they can achieve their dreams.
