A MEMBER of parliament has expressed his gratitude after being re-selected by the Maldon district's Conservatives.
Sir John Whittingdale has been re-selected to be the Conservative Party candidate for Maldon at the next general election.
The group attended a meeting of the Maldon Constituency Conservative Association in Maldon Town Hall.
Sir John also confirmed the Maldon constituency will continue to contain all the current wards from Maldon and Chelmsford, in addition to Galleywood which was part of the Maldon and East Chelmsford constituency which he previously represented.
The Maldon MP said he is "privileged" to represent his constituents in Westminster.
Sir John said: “I am enormously grateful to the members of the Conservative Party in the Maldon constituency for their continuing support.
“It is a huge privilege to serve as a Member of Parliament and I am proud to represent all my constituents in Westminster.
“I am pleased that under the proposals from the Boundary Commission, the Maldon constituency will still contain all the current wards from Maldon and Chelmsford and will also regain the ward of Galleywood which was part of the former Maldon and East Chelmsford constituency which I represented from 1997 to 2010.”
