AN EVENT at a major tourist attraction is back "by popular demand".

Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome has announced its signature show Wings and Wheels is set to return this Summer by popular demand.

The air and ground event boasts a showcase of the best of aviation and motor vehicles and bosses say it always sells out.

This proved true for last year's event which sold out it in its fifth year running.

While visitor numbers were strictly controlled to maintain high levels of Covid security at the 2021 event, the site still welcomed a throng of visitors from near and far.

Aerodrome patrons Lord Lieutenant of Essex Jenny Tolhurst and popular media historian Dan Snow were among the visitors who enjoyed an exciting air display from period and classic aircraft, viewed more than 150 classic vehicles and explored the site’s many exhibitions.

The same excitement is expected for this year's event and admission is strictly by advance ticket only, by ground or air.

Those who would like their club to exhibit vehicles can contact info@stowmaries.org.uk for an application form.

The attraction welcomes applications for clubs where members drive pre-1984 classic vehicles, and any number of wheels are welcome.

The only way to take part as an exhibitor is to apply by email and only pre-booked exhibitors will be able to display their vehicles.

For any aircraft display enquiries, contact airops@stowmaries.org.uk.

Tickets will go on sale in March.

The aerodrome is open from 10am to 4pm, Friday to Sunday.
