PARISH COUNCIL

Play area - A big thank you to Maldon Fencing Company for kindly donating the gravel boards to extend the depth of the enclosed play area, so the parish council can order another load of cushion fall to the depth of 300mm.

The path will need to be raised to stop the cushion fall disappearing, so if there are any local builders and/or landscape gardeners out there who would like to quote or perhaps offer their services freely, then we will be more than happy to hear from you.

The first phase of the new playground equipment should be going in during the course of August and, as Maldon District Council have pledged £1,500 for the second phase and we already have £10,000 from the community initiatives funds and the parish council, and Da Latchingdon Club has over the past two raised about £4,000, we are nearly there for the second phase.

Hall - again, thank you to Maldon Fencing Company for demolishing the ramp at the back of the hall in readiness for the container to be attached to provide easily accessible storage for the youth club.

The container has to be insulated to stop condensation and we would like to thank to councillor Bardwell, who has donated the material for this to be done. All that is needed now is to get some quotes for attaching the container and weatherproofing.

Again if there are any builders who would like to quote, please contact Sarah 773183, who will be able to give you the specification.

PLEASE NOTE, from September 1 the hall car park will only be available for use when the hall is in use. Notices will be evident and a schedule of what is on in the hall will be posted on the notice board.

CCTV - the grant from the community initiatives fund for £3,200 has been received and the CCTV will be installed during the course of August, together with additional lighting making the area safer.

SID (Speed Indicator Device) - finally, Highways have put in the poles needed to get this project off the ground so shortly, you will be seeing the use of the device on Burnham Road, The Street (by Ramsey Chase two directions) and The Street (by the Garage).

Unfortunately, one could not be sited on the Steeple Road as there was not considered to be enough visibility distance at any point.

We would welcome volunteers to join the team to put up and take down when required. If you would like to help, please contact Sarah at the parish office.

Summer fete - we raised about £203 after expenses, which wasn't too bad considering the weather.

Thank you to all those brave helpers and visitors who came, despite the weather.

Dog fouling - this is still a big problem and we ask everyone to remember to take a bag with you when you walk your dogs to clear up after them. Thank you.
