TWO men have been arrested following a burglary in Maldon where clothes worth thousands of pounds were stolen.

The clothing store Coes on Maldon High Street was broken into in the early hours of this morning.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "A shop in Maldon High Street had been broken into at around 3.20am and clothes worth a four or five-figure sum were taken.

"Two men were arrested a short time later.

"A 24-year-old man from Ipswich was arrested on suspicion of burglary and possession of an offensive weapon while a 26-year-old man from Maldon was arrested on suspicion of burglary.

"They have both been released on bail until July 7."
