A HOSPICE’S walking event has raised more than £80,000.
Farleigh Hospice held their Walk for Life event on Sunday which saw 910 participants enjoying a leisurely stroll across the countryside on one or two scenic routes.
People could either walk 12 kilometres from Paper Mill Lock in Little Baddow, or a 24 kilometre walk from Heybridge Basin, with both finishing at the Teledyne E2V building in Chelmsford.
The walk has raised a total of £81,000 for the hospice, who provide care to people with life-limiting illnesses across Mid-Essex.
Many participants walked in remembrance of loved ones, with some writing heartfelt tributes to friends and family, pinning them to their t-shirts.
Dominique Brunning, fundraising manager for Farleigh Hospice, said: “We are thrilled so many people took part in Walk for Life. It was a fantastic day filled with sunshine and laughter.
“The sponsorship money raised will enable Farleigh Hospice to carry on caring for people in mid Essex affected by life-limiting illness.
“Farleigh Hospice would like to thank everyone who took part in this year's event, all of our volunteers who helped us to organise and run the event, and M&G Investments for once again sponsoring our Walk for Life event.
“It is because you care that we can.”
