A businesswoman has swapped market stalls for a fashion store on Maldon High Street.

Corrine Byrne, 56, has launched her store Onpoiint upstairs at the Emporium.

Ms Byrne, of Great Braxted, initially launched the business online before deciding to take on a shopping space to sell her items.

And the store has proved popular in the celebrity world with Kerry Katona, of Atomic Kitten fame, and Chloe Jasmine Winchello, who appeared on the X Factor, wearing the clothes.

Ms Byrne, who previous ran a cleaning business in London and worked in restaurants, opened the shop three weeks ago.

She said: “I used to do the market stalls a few years ago with clothes then I moved to the area and used to come into the Emporium.

“I saw they had some space to let and took the opportunity.

“It is more affordable than having your own shop and I quite like having the café next door and we have people coming through all the time.”

Now the shop is up and running Ms Byrne wants to expand her offer, focusing on providing a range of plus size fashion.

She said: “I want to expand with plus sized clothes as I think fashion is for everyone.

“I have a few size 16 items but once you get to 18s I don’t have anything for them.

“Fashion is bit of a passion for me. I think everybody should be able to afford fashion whatever size they are or whatever budget they have – that is my plan. If you wear something nice you feel better.

“We have had positive feedback so far.”

The shop is open 10am to 4pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
