A BRAND new outdoor cinema business is coming to Maldon and Burnham this year.

The Essex Alfresco Cinema is a new family and friend run business which has dates set for Maldon in May, July and August with a provisional Burnham date set for September.

Donna Burnham, of Southminster, is the company’s director, and wanted to put on great films for the Maldon and Burnham community to enjoy together.

Donna said: “Our vision is to provide a great film and event for the community to embrace and enjoy. Behind the scenes we are a family and friends run business and we are all residents of the local community so we really do want to make our events special and loved.

“As part of attending Essex Alfresco Cinema events, people will find a variety of concessions onsite to make the night that extra bit fulfilling, whether it be a couple of cheeky proseccos or tuck into some lovely sugary doughnuts.

“The main thing is, you come and enjoy an evening full of fun, food and film.”

On May 5, they will be showing the 1990 film Ghost at Promenade Park in Maldon, following by Beauty and the Beast on July 7, starring Emma Watson.

There will be another showing on August 31 with the film to be announced, with a provisional date to show a film in Burnham on September 7.

For each film gates will open at 6.30pm. The Prosecco Van Ltd, Retro Sweet van and a BBQ are also confirmed for the first screening.

The organisers are hoping to hold some additional live entertainment on the day, but this is yet to be finalised.
