MALDON’S annual art trail will launch in the town this weekend.
The trail’s wonderful selection of art on a variety of mediums, classes and workshops will take place at various locations in the town centre from this Saturday until Sunday, October 1.
The Art Trail showcases art in shops, cafés, and public buildings in and around Maldon.
From paintings and photographs to sculptures, textiles, millinery, and paper-cutting, the diverse range of work on offer proves the talent of the region’s artists.
Last week prizes were awarded for this year’s children and young person art competition with the theme of Maldon’s natural world.
There will also be a young person’s art workshop at Maldon Town Hall on Saturday.
Susan Barker, Cabinet Member for Culture, Community and Customer said, “The Summer of Art does many great things: it brings recognition to fantastic local artists, it puts people in touch with their communities in new ways, and it creates connections and opportunities that would otherwise be missed.
“I’m thrilled that Essex County Council can help to facilitate the Maldon Art Trail and I would encourage people to visit the festival and take part in the activities where there is the chance to try different art work and be creative.”
